What the HKIEd Research Repository is
The HKIEd Research Repository collects, manages, preserves and showcases in one digital location, the research output of all academic, research and administrative staff of the Institute. Records can be browsed by community, centre, title, author, date, subject and searchable by keywords. The Research Repository also provides access to an electronic copy of the material when available. It represents a major knowledge management resource of the Institute and demonstrates the range and level of research achievement of HKIEd staff.
Objectives
The HKIEd Research Repository contributes
significantly to the development of research capacity of the Institute
by providing a single bibliographical database of staff research output. The key objectives of this
single repository are:
- To provide staff with immediate and convenient online access
to the bibliographic citations, abstracts and, where available,
the full-text of their published works;
- To strengthen research capacity by providing a reference
database of research publications of HKIEd staff;
- To enable staff members to share their published and unpublished
research works with colleagues;
- To demonstrate the depth of the Institute's
research attainments to stakeholders, such as external funding bodies,
UGC and RAE; and
- To provide staff a convenient platform for ?œself-archiving??their research and scholarly output.
What the HKIEd Research Repository includes
Currently the HKIEd Research Repository consists of over 10,500 records of citations dating back to 1994 and over 2,500 records are linked with full-text copies. Deposited materials includes scholarly books, chapters, journal articles and conference papers, representing an integral whole of the Institute's research output. Call for
Submissions
To enhance staff to self-archive their research output in the HKIEd Research Repository, the Library is now launching a call to all academic, research and administrative staff to submit their research output records and where available the full-text version. Staff can submit their records through email or contact us for details.
Submission Guidelines
Copyright Issues
Staff are welcome to deposit a full-text version of their research output to the HKIEd Research Repository. Currently, most publishers will accept and allow authors to deposit papers published in their journals in open access
repositories, subject to certain
conditions. The SHERPA RoMEO database (http://www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo.php) provides a summary of copyright and archiving policies adopted by major publishers in the world.?The OAKList database (http://www.oaklist.qut.edu.au) covers Australian publishers' copyright and open access policies as well. Staff are advised to read the publisher copyright policies on self-archiving and allowing use of their published materials in Repositories. You are most welcome to contact the HKIEd Research Repository team and we will be happy to check the copyright agreement related to any materials that you would like to deposit for you.
